UAGCGP Students Present Scholarly Projects at Regional Conference
This spring, second-year students from the University of Arizona Genetic Counseling Graduate Program (UAGCGP) presented posters and gave presentations about their scholarly projects as part of a regional genetics conference. The Arizona Genetics Alliance (AGA) Annual Education Conference was held in April at the University of Arizona Biomedical Sciences campus in Phoenix, AZ. Four students from the UAGCGP presented posters on topics ranging from community outreach and engagement to developing educational materials for patients and families. One student, Faith Knight, was selected to give a featured presentation on her research project entitled, “A Retrospective Population Study of Congenital Heart Defects and Genetic Testing in Southern Arizona.” Faith and her fellow students discussed their work with the nearly 50 attendees from around Arizona, including genetic counselors, prospective students and other professionals working to advance clinical genetics in Arizona.
