Laura Engle
Laura grew up just outside of Portland, Oregon, and graduated with her Bachelor of Science from Linfield College with a major in biology and a minor in chemistry. While at Linfield, she worked as a caregiver for an autistic child, volunteered at a domestic violence shelter, and participated in two research projects: one involving genome annotation, and the other involving a gene silencing pathway in Drosophila melanogaster. After graduation, she provided administrative support at her local Planned Parenthood and became a volunteer sexual assault victim advocate. She spent the last two years as a pediatric genetic counseling assistant at Oregon Health and Science University. In her free time, she enjoys being active, cooking, eating, and spending time with her family.
