George Fantry, MD
Dr. Fantry is a board-certified gastroenterologist who specializes in esophageal diseases. He served in multiple roles at the University of Maryland School of Medicine over 26 years, including as clinical director of the GI Division, GI Fellowship Program director, director of the Heartburn and Dyspepsia Program, Pathophysiology and Therapeutics Course director and assistant dean for student research and education. Dr. Fantry joined the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Tucson in July 2016, where he served as the associate dean and senior associate dean for student affairs and admissions through June 2022 and as co-director of the MD-PhD Program from 2019 through June 2024. As the vice dean for education at the College of Health Sciences, Dr. Fantry will support the college and the Global MD Program, with a focus on building and enhancing student services, including optimizing communication and accessibility, providing consistent and collaborative career guidance, preparing students for successful residency applications and mentoring, all while encouraging wellness and life balance.
