Carlos Gonzales, MD

Associate Dean for Indigenous Affairs

Dr. Gonzales resides in Nogales and Tucson, Arizona. He received his MD from the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Tucson, where he later became an associate professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine in addition to serving as the assistant dean for medical student education. He also played key roles as the director of the Rural Health Professions Program and the director of the Commitment to Underserved People Program. Dr. Gonzales is intimately involved with the Societies Learning Communities, where he is one of 20 mentors for medical students. Dr. Gonzales has received numerous awards, including his recent Legendary Rural Health Professions Program Director Award from the Arizona Rural Health Association. As associate dean for Indigenous Affairs for the College of Health Sciences, Dr. Gonzales will continue to spend the majority of his time supporting the Global MD Program.
