Jessica recently served as the Associate Senior Director of Financial Aid at The University of Arizona’s College of Medicine —Tucson. With 14 years of experience in financial aid administration, a significant portion dedicated to supporting health professions programs for 13 years, she brings a wealth of insights and experiences to her current role as the Senior Director of Financial Aid & Scholarships at the College of Health Sciences (COHS).
Jessica’s professional journey began 20 years ago in the dynamic arena of the financial and mortgage services industry. Here, she adeptly navigated the complexities presented by the subprime mortgage and financial crisis. She has served on numerous national and institutional committees, leveraging her expertise to contribute to the advancement of financial aid practices within the health professions community. Additionally, she currently dedicates her time to volunteering on a speaker's bureau for a foundation, where she passionately delivers financial literacy workshops tailored to support pre-health undergraduates on their educational journey. Her commitment lies in championing student-centric practices and continuously seeking avenues to enrich the health professional student experience through streamlined financial aid processes.
As a first-generation college and a nontraditional student, herself, she deeply understands the transformative power of education. She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Northern Arizona University and a Master of Science in Educational Technology from the University of Arizona.
In her role as Senior Director of Financial Aid & Scholarships, she will lead the development of a comprehensive financial aid program for all health professional students. This includes establishing the cost of attendance, managing Title IV and VII aid compliance, identifying scholarship and grant opportunities, and facilitating public/private loan options to bolster recruitment efforts and support the endeavors of the COHS Office of Admissions. She will also lead the development of a tailored financial education program, guiding students from pre-enrollment to post-graduation loan repayment, ensuring they make informed financial decisions.
